Because, here at Cwmcysglyd, ( translated = Sleepy Valley ) we pride ourselves on our free range goats, and because we have two separate herds, one commercial and one for work, we are able to offer free range meat from the commercial herd that are specially bred for this purpose.
All our goats are born inside the barn, but are allowed access thru the day with their mothers to the big outside. Because our goats are not dairy goats, we do not need to separate nannies and kids at any time throughout their lives, and so they go on to grow into family units of several generations.
Most of the kids are born early spring, and as the weather gets warmer, and the kids get stronger, they are allowed to come and go as they please totally free range, enjoying a wonderful carefree life with their family.
We carefully select the goats that are bred for the table, and we also take into consideration the stress they may suffer when being transported to the abattior, plus the carbon footprint, so for that reason we use a family run business less than 15 miles from here.
Goat meat is cut into the same joints as lamb, and can be cooked exactly the same way, although because it is lower in fat, if it is going to be roasted, you will need to baste it.

Goats for sale
Throughout the year we have various kids or goats for sale.
Kids are over 16 weeks old, when they are ready for their new homes, or are sold with their dams.
We have become quite well known in the area for keeping goats, and so on the odd occasion people ask us if we would either buy their goats from them when they no longer want them, or we are asked to rescue goats. This brings us to the situation of deciding what to do with them. Some stay with us and join the herd, others we find new loving homes for. Below is a selection of goats we have for sale at the moment.
